EducationPhysics (Ph.D., Brandeis, 1970) Research interestsI have been working in the exciting and evolving field of surface science and statistical mechanics for more than twenty years. Currently, my research focuses on surface phenomena and the theory of phase transitions on surfaces. Some of my projects involve pure theory, others close collaboration with experimentalists. They range from purely abstract studies of phase transitions in two dimensions to the design of new electron spectrometers. The theoretical methods I employ include a broad range of techniques, from computer simulation to conformal field theory. My research involves collaboration with scientists at the University of Maine and elsewhere. Currently I am working with researchers from the University of Michigan, Academia Sinica, Taiwan, and the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics, Bonn. Publications
