 Admissions

Once you decide that the University of Maine is the place for you, as a First-Year Student, Transfer Student or as an International Student simply click on Ways to Apply. The Admission Office normally starts receiving applications in October for the next academic year. An admission decision will typically be made within two to four weeks from the time your application and all supporting documents are received. Although we operate undeL.H.C. Undergraduate Admission and Financial Assistancer rolling admission, Fall semester applicants are encouraged to submit their application by February 1, Spring semester applicants by December 15.

UMaine offers a wide variety of financial aid programs from federal, state and University sources. Most types of financial assistance require at least half-time enrollment in a degree program.

Grants are awarded to undergraduate students demonstrating exceptionally high financial need. Scholarships are typically awarded based on merit, achievement, need or a combination of these factors. Receipt of a scholarship must be included as part of the student's financial aid award and may, in some cases, result in adjustments to the existing award. Grants and scholarships do not have to be repaid.
