Born and raised in Bangor in a family of five boys, I graduated from John Bapst High School in 1980. I pursued my college degree parttime while managing various restaurants in Maine and Massachusetts, including Paul's Restaurant in Bangor.
After receiving my English degree from University of Maine, I served as editor for a solidstate circuits technical conference and edited software user manuals prior to accepting my current position as Resource Developer for Washington Hancock Community Agency in 2002.

As a result of our team's efforts, WHCA is recognized as an important community asset that persistently works to resolve local problems.
For the past two years, I have chaired the Bucket Brigade committee for the American Folk Festival. As an avid community supporter, I know the commitment and rewards involved in volunteering, so I deeply appreciate the work of RSVP. |

How can one write a brief account of such a long life?
I was born and raised in Connecticut. I attended Stones Business College and worked at St. Raphael’s Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut until I was married and moved to Massachusetts. I bore five children and was a stay-at-home Mom until my children’s father decided to enter the Ministry.

We moved to Bangor, Maine where he attended the Bangor Theological Seminary. I was able to support our family with employment with the Bangor Public Library. While working at the library I attended the University of Maine. I retired from the BPL in 1987 and went to work at Eastern Maine medical Center in the library. I worked there until I was old enough to retire again.
Upon retirement I began to give back to our community as much as I could. I became a part of RSVP. My first placement was at Phillips/Strickland House where I am a Corporator and have been for many years. I also volunteer at Eastern Maine Medical Center where ever and when ever they need extra hands. I have served at the homeless shelter feeding the hungry. Church work has always been a first priority with me. Recently Irving Marsters invited me to join the RSVP Board. I have also helped on the American Folk Festival hope to continue to do that. As long as my health continues as it has, I shall do what I am asked and able to do. |
