at various locations throughout Maine, these state-of-the-art
continuing education seminars help geriatric health
and human service administrators, managers, and planners
maximize their organizations' effectiveness and efficiency.
Each expert-driven, best-practice seminar offers
the most current strategies and tools for achieving
organizational excellence. Seminars are locally sponsored
by highly respected area geriatric institutions. This year's GOLD session will be offered in conjunction with our Spring 2006 Continuing Education Series.

long-term care facility, adult day care program, assisted
living center, senior citizens center, home health
care program, or other community service program for
older adults, you will want to attend these sessions.

Targeting the Boomer Consumer
Description:
This workshop is designed for business owners, managers, and marketing personnel across industries who seek knowledge and skills for effective marketing to America’s 78 million baby boomers. Regardless of specialty, there is good news for those pursuing baby boomers as clients and customers. These consumers account for more than half of U.S. spending and, as they age, their spending power actually strengthens. Understanding and applying current information and the proven strategies covered in this workshop not only improves return on marketing investment, it also allows the business community to meet the unique needs and wants of those baby boomers served. It is possible to do well and do good.

Instructor, University of Maine Business School
Susan R. Kaye, as a Principal at Packard Judd Kaye Strategic Marketing Group, brings twenty years of professional experience in strategic marketing and the health and human services. Originally from New York City, she has brought together her corporate and not-for-profit expertise to provide strategic planning, marketing management services, marketing plan development, market research, and training to a broad array of organizations. Kaye's clients span industries such as information technology, higher education, tourism, health care, real estate and development, and consulting firms.
Prior to embarking on a consulting career, Susan worked for several years in Philadelphia for Rohm and Haas, an international manufacturer of specialty chemical products. Her marketing research activities include work funded by AARP Andrus Foundation that resulted in published articles on elder consumer preferences and research initiatives commissioned by clients.
Susan has served as a continuing education instructor at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania and presently teaches fundamentals of marketing and health care marketing at the University of Maine Business School. She additionally brings her teaching expertise to client organizations through customized marketing and sales training programs.

Avoiding Staff Burnout
Description:
Do you have staff complaining that work is not fun anymore? Do you have staff that overreact to minor hassles, report being overwhelmed, and complain of minor health ailments? If so, you could be dealing with employees who are feeling burnt out with their work, which is a constant threat for staff working in the geriatric field. This workshop will help participants develop skills in identifying the signs and signals of burnout within themselves and others and will give strategies for dealing with burnout.
