Winston M. Turner is the evaluation specialist for several Native American research projects as well as the Center on Aging. He has an appointment as Adjunct Professor in the School of Social Work and teaches the research courses in the BSW and MSW programs. He received his Ph.D. in Social Policy at the Florence Heller School from Brandeis University, and his Master's degree in Experimental Psychology from DePaul University. Prior to moving to Maine, he was Project Director for several NIMH grants involving substance abuse and homelessness at Harvard Medical School. At that same time, he was an Adjunct Professor at Simmons College School of Social Work, where he continues to serve on doctoral dissertation committees. He currently is an external grant reviewer for the Center on Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA) and has an active consulting business. He currently holds contracts with the State Department of Behavioral and Developmental Services, several of Maine's Native American tribes and other agencies.
