This project is aimed at bringing issues of aging to life through documentary films produced by students at the University of Maine's New Media Department. The idea was spawned by Professor Bill Kuykendall of the New Media Department, and Colin McGovern, an Interdisciplinary Studies Major at the University. The hope is that this project will provide a space for students to publish their work in a meaningful environment, while at the same time providing a gateway of interest into the many important services that The Center on Aging has to offer.
A Visit to Adam Williams
by Sean Collins
A very eccentric man, Adam Williams has many talents to show you. From workshops to sword dueling, Adam does it all. With many toys and trinkets, he shows similarities to someone we all know, Santa Claus. Could it be true? We'll let you decide for yourself. "A Visit to Adam Williams" is a multimedia piece that was produced to show the life of Bangor, Maine's Adam Williams.
Back Home is the story of a mother, a daughter, and a house. The film deals with the issues that surround having to care for an aging parent while trying to juggle the legal and emotional complexities that inevitably come with the territory. The photographs and audio interviews were collected over the course of the Spring Semester of 2007, for Bill Kuykendall's Documentary Photography and Audio Course (NMD 301).
