Once you are sure that you want to join the School of Marine Sciences as an undergraduate, you need to pass a test in navigation — web navigation. Students applying for undergraduate admission are generally ranked on criteria determined outside the School of Marine Sciences at the University of Maine and in the University of Maine System, and available spaces are filled from the top-ranked students downward. All the forms you need can be reached from the Office of Undergraduate Admission's home page. (You can get anywhere from there.) As you might guess from the checklist for students applying for first-year entry, grades, test scores and a recommendation are the primary bases of the ranking. Criteria and application materials for transfer and international students are slightly different.

We have a regular schedule of visits for prospective students and their parents. If you would like to pay a visit, are unsure and need specific or general information about SMS to make your decision, or need navigational help to steer the reefs of admissions, contact:
