UMaine to lead new razor clam research
Paul Rawson of the University of Maine School of Marine Sciences is leading an effort to develop ways to grow razor clams on shellfish farms. With a $93,616 award from the Northeast Regional Aquaculture Center (NRAC), Rawson will work with Roger Williams University, Woods Hole Sea Grant and Cape Cod Cooperative Extension, Maine Sea Grant and UMaine Cooperative Extension. AP story on funding for ocean monitoring project
The Boston Globe website included an Associated Press story about $1.7 million in funding for the Northeastern Regional Association of Coastal Ocean Observing Systems, known as NERACOOS, which includes UMaine's Physical Oceanography Group and UMaine Professor Neal Pettigrew. The Bangor Daily News also ran the AP story, which mentioned the funding will enable researchers to collect data that will be used to benefit the fishing industry...
