COSEE-China Workshop

SMS graduate student Carrie Armbrecht recently participated in the COSEE-China planning workshop. The focus of this international workshop was to exchange information on ocean science education in the US and China, and to explore the possibility of establishing a Center for Ocean Sciences Education Excellence (COSEE) in China. Carrie, along with 14 fellow US delegates, met with administrators, scientists and graduate students from 7 Chinese universities; teachers and students from Chinese high schools; as well as representatives from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, State Oceanic Administration, the Ministry of Education, and the US National Science Foundation. The week began in Beijing, followed by visits to Xiamen University, and to the Ocean University of China in Qingdao. For more information, see the COSEE-China Blog and Carrie’s webpage.
