I.M. Systems Group, Inc. (IMSG), (http://www.imsg.com), a Federal Government Contractor, is soliciting qualified scientists to potentially support NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) in Silver Spring, MD.

 

Scientist, Ecology and Fisheries
IMSG Inc. is seeking a qualified scientist with education and experience in habitat ecology and fisheries to support the NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS).

Experience/background requirements:

  • PhD in Marine or fisheries, biological sciences, ecology, or natural resource management and a minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience, or M.S. Degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of fish life history, biology, and habitat requirements.
  • Experience coordinating with local, state, and federal environmental protection and resource management bodies on fisheries management and habitat restoration projects
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical review of restoration and fishery projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 

 

Scientist, Surveys and Biological Studies

IMSG Inc. is seeking a qualified scientist with education and experience in surveys, sampling and biological studies to support the NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS).

Experience/background requirements:

  • An advanced degree in Biology, Marine Biology or Oceanography and a minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience as a project lead studying fish ecology and/or life history.
  • Experience processing, analyzing and interpreting fish hard parts, tagging data and/or fishery-independent survey data.
  • Expertise in fish ecology, life history,age, growth, and mortality studies.
  • Extensive seagoing research experience.
  • Track record of publications in marine science and directing junior staff or students on fish life history studies.

 

 

Scientist, Stock Assessment

IMSG Inc. is seeking a qualified scientist with education and experience in stock assessment to support the NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS).

Experience/background requirements:

  • PhD in Marine or Fisheries Science Oceanography and a minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience, or M.S. Degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Strong quantitative skills with previous work on statistics and fish population dynamics.
  • Programming expertise in R and ADMB or comparable programs, and experience with MS Access databases desirable.
  • Track record of publications in marine science
  • Experience providing technical assistance in stock assessments and data analysis/interpretation to fisheries management bodies

 

 

 

Scientist, Fisheries Management

IMSG Inc. is seeking a qualified scientist with education and experience in Fisheries Management to support the NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS).

Experience/background requirements:

  • PhD in Marine Resource Management, Fisheries Biology, or Fisheries Management and a minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience, or M.S. Degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Experience conducting research on fisheries management alternatives and making recommendations to fisheries management bodies.
  • Expertise in fisheries management legislation and policy, and demonstrated knowledge of regulatory documents, processes, and compliance issues.
  • Experience supporting the development of management plans to maintain and restore fisheries and habitat.
  • Track record of publications in marine science, fisheries management.

 

 

Scientist, Fisheries Economist

IMSG Inc. is seeking a qualified scientist with education and experience in Fisheries/Natural Resource Economics to support the NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS).

Experience/background requirements:

  • PhD in Economics, and a minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience, or M.S. Degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Experience conducting applied economic analysis, including benefit-cost and distributional economic impact analyses.
  • Knowledge of fisheries legislation, policy and regulations pertaining to fishery management
  • Expertise in manipulating and analyzing large, comprehensive fisheries data sets
  • Understanding of current bio-economic models, market-based management strategies, and economic theories applied to fisheries management
  • Track record of publications in economics.
