Research interests

This is my first year at the University of Maine, as a masters student of marine biology. I am working in Dr. Paul Rawson's lab on Roseovarius Oyster Disease. The infectious agent is Roseovarius crassotrea, a gram-negative marine bacterium. I hope to imitate the natural initiation and continuation of the disease in the laboratory so that I may study the chemical and physiological markers that characterize the disease's progression until oyster fatality. I will be using tools from molecular biology and aquaculture to do this.
