B.S. Cornell University 2009; M.S. University of Maine 2012
I studied Civil Engineering at Cornell University as an undergraduate, received my Master of Science in Marine Bioresources at the University of Maine in 2012, and am now starting an interdisciplinary PhD in Ocean Engineering. Since coming to UMaine, my research has focused on assessing the effects of tidal energy turbines on fish. I use hydroacoustics to monitor fish movements at a site in Cobscook Bay, Maine, where the the first grid-connected tidal turbine in the USA is currently installed. My research will provide a better understanding of the environmental effects of this new form of renewable energy, which are so far unknown.
