Education

B.S. Marine Sciences with a concentration in Marine Biology, University of Maine 2010

Description

I am a first year student in the dual marine biology and marine policy program working with Dr. Robert Steneck and Dr. Teresa Johnson.

Research interests

My research focuses on the biological and social complexities of implementing marine spatial planning in the Gulf of Maine. For my thesis, I will seek to determine if abiotic factors such as depth, substrate and water mass characteristics (e.g. temperature and salinity) explain sufficient variance of benthic and demersal assemblages of megafauna in the coastal shelf region. Since my research seeks to help determine best use management policies, I intend to complete an internship with The Nature Conservancy where I will work with practitioners of marine conservation and marine spatial planning.
