Population estimates for all states
The Population Estimates Program publishes state population estimates each year for total population with details on age, sex, race and Hispanic origin. The first release of total population estimates at the end of the calendar year includes demographic components of change (births, deaths, and migration). Later releases include population data by age, sex, race, and Hispanic origin and give numbers for single year of age, different age groupings, and median age. These data are estimates of the population of the 50 states and the District of Columbia as of July 1 of each year.  Downloadable datasets available

National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
The National Survey on Drug Use and Health, initiated in 1971, is a face-to-face sample of approximately 68,000 persons over age 12. The survey measures illicit drugs, alcohol and tobacco in the civilian, non-institutionalized US population. Website features downloadable datasets, national summaries and significant state findings, and online analysis. Because of survey improvements, 2002 and later surveys should not be compared with 2001 and earlier surveys. Data can be reported at the national or state level.
