"Washington County, Maine is a county of contradictions and uniqueness," writes Robert Roper, an Associate Professor of Business Management at the University College of Bangor. In his report, Roper takes a close look at the demographic and economic data of a Downeast Maine county, studying the dynamics of population and change. The report, commissioned by The Ellsworth American, also contains a detailed analysis of Washington County's economy at the sector and sub-sector levels over the 1970-1996 time period.
