The inspiration for this guide grew from the results of an analysis of the inconsistencies in the environmental regulations that control the conduct of forest practices under state laws. A number of foresters, after reviewing the analysis of inconsistencies, remarked on the usefulness of the analysis tables in providing clear guidance about forestry regulations. The author has attempted to capture the usefulness of those tables of regulations in the form of this guide. The Guide to Forestry Regulations in Maine is intended to help the forest practitioner find the regulations that will apply to their specific operations.
