Our portion of the Human Powered Submarine Project consists of building and testing a dynamometer to measure the thrust, drag, and lift on the submersible.  The dynamometer will allow fine tuning of the submarine and lead to a faster vessel overall. 

 

Sept 15-           Met with Gene Sutton to talk about scuba certification

 

Sept 20-           Complete survey from three sources on underwater force measurements

 

Oct 4-              Get web page up and running. 

                                

Oct 13 -           Final draft of initial idea ready for review by advisors and orders complete for dyno parts(make contacts, order materials etc.)

 

Oct18  -           Collect parts (make contacts, order materials etc.)

 

Nov8   -           Data collected from open water test at four speeds

 

Dec 6 -                        Electronics specified for dyno and purchase orders in.

 

Dec13-                        Scuba qualifications complete for all necessary members of team. 

 

Dec. 20-          Bench test of electronics.

 

Feb 28-            First test of dyno on side of pool with swimmer.

 

Apr4  -             Redesign of dyno.

 

Apr. 11-           Data from redesigned dyno in pool.

 

Apr18-             Rough idea/ sketch of final poster layout.

 

Apr 26-            Final draft of poster.

 

May3-              Set up project for final review for Maine Day

 

May4-              Open house, operational review day.

 

May10-            Final project due.
