The
creation of a machine to apply a reinforcing coating
to
the surface of wood is a combined effort of this senior
design
team and the University of Maine's Advanced
Engineered
Wood Composites Center.
Reinforced
wood composites are an aspiration of the AEWC
center
for blast resistant structures as well as buildings capable
of
withstanding the forces of nature's strongest disasters.
Buildings
constructed with this reinforced lumber can protect
our
troops on the front lines of our nation's wars as well as
protect
civil service agents lending aid during natural disasters.
The
goal of this senior design project is to design a machine
that
will autonomously apply a reinforcing coating
to
the surface of wood.
