Designing a turbine testing apparatus is a very challenging one.  The group has gone through many different design matrix’s to develop the current design of a chain drive assembly.  The method of achieving the power will come from multiplying the experimental shaft speed by the torsional resistance (torque).  The torsional resistance will be varied for different speeds to develop the optimum torque in the shaft to achieve maximum power.  For next semester the group will explore the idea of applying a torsional resistance with a torsional friction brake in conjunction with a load cell.  This would replace the motor assembly and multimeter.
