Below is a list of projected dates on which different tasks are expected to be completed:

Fall 2007

  • First revised milestones submitted: Complete
  • Design Notebook Initial sign-off: Complete
  • Obtain EPRI circulation reports and FERC application for: Complete
    • Western Passage Eastport
    • Bagaduce Narrows MMA
  • Find refereed literature on tidal turbines and wind turbines: Complete
  • Complete research and summary document on design possibilities for the test turbine: Complete
  • First web page goes live with introductory page and menu on left.  Page must include resumes, individual photos, and milestones: Complete
  • Design matrix completed and design selected for test: Complete
  • Evaluate manufacturing process/material possibilities: Complete
  • Create a SolidWorks tool to convert information from the OpenProp design program to an actual part: Partially Complete
  • Estimate the project budget: Complete
  • Estimate maximum shaft torque for test group: Complete
  • Milestone review: Complete
  • Create a realistic “artist’s rendition” for use on website and in promotion of the project: Complete
  • Prepare a presentation for Peter Mills: Complete
  • Evaluate the economic feasibility of tidal energy compared to other alternate energy technologies: Complete
  • Draft Midterm Report: December 6, 2007
  • Attempt a turbine design with the PROPID program: December 15, 2007 or asap
  • Midterm Report due as a PDF posted as a completed web page: December 19, 2007, 11:30 am

Spring 2008 (tentative)

  • Tow tank instrumentation completed and ready to run: February 19, 2008
  • Turbine complete and functioning in air: March 18, 2008
  • Turbine mounted and ready for test in tow tank:  April 1, 2008
  • Curves for test turbine as a function of tow speed in tank: April 15, 2008
  • Lab Cleanup & Infrastructure Project Completed: Maine Day, April 30, 2008
  • Open House -- Review of Projects: May 1, 2008, Afternoon
  • Final Web Page submitted, for review during final exam period: Monday, May 5, 2008, Noon
