Senior Design Project 2008-2009
Mechanical Engineering Department
University of Maine, Orono
The goal of the Heat Recovery Project is to complete the design
of the direct
expansion heat pump system for the Engineering Science
and Research Building in
Barrows Hall at the University of Maine. This will be a continuation
of last years project
in an effort to recover wasted energy.
Recovery Project began as an effort to evaluate current heating and
practices and determine whether a more efficient system could be used.
determined that a direct
expansion heat recovery system would
energy to meet OSHA requirements.
2007-2008 Advanced Heat Recovery Project wasn't able to complete the
of their semester. This years goals are to finish the direct expansion
and condenser coil
as well as those for the receiving tank. We also are in the process of
obtaining a Turbocor
compressor and finishing all pipe diagrams and system layouts. We hope
to order parts soon and
