Diploma in 1949 from Deer Isle High School, BSME in 1953 from University of Maine. MSME in 1958 from Northeastern University.
Joined General Electric Company in Lynn, MA in 1953. Entire working career with GE Aircraft Engines, involved in the design, development, manufacture, and product support of military and commercial aircraft engines. Named General Manager of the Lynn Engineering Operation in 1975 and General Manager of GE Aircraft Engine Engineering Division in 1979. Elected a Vice President of the General Electric Company in 1980. Served seven years as VP & GM of the GE Aircraft Engine Engineering Division and four years as VP & GM of the GE Aircraft Engine Lynn Production Division. Retired as Vice President and Chief Engineer of GE Aircraft Engines in 1992.
Elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 1990. Elected to the grade of Fellow by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and to the GE Aircraft Engine Hall of Fame in 1995. Recipient of the Naval Material Command Reliability and Quality Assurance Award in 1984, the SAE Cliff Garrett Turbomachinery Engineering Award in 1985, the AIAA Air Breathing Propulsion Award in 1986, the University of Maine Distinguished Engineering Award in1992, and a University of Maine Alumni Association Block “M” Award in 2003.
