In Fall 2000 received a Ph.D. degree from the Department of
Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Research involved using direct numerical simulations (DNS) to
study turbulent reacting shear layer flows, which are prototypes
of many internal combustion engine flow situations. In DNS calculations,
no turbulence models are used and all relevant scales are resolved
on the computational grid. This permits the study of basic physical
processes that occur in turbulence-flame interactions. The detailed
understanding of such interactions is crucial for use in engine
simulations as well as other engineering applications.
Currently in a post-doctoral position at the Combustion Research
Facility at Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, CA.
