Mechanical Engineering

Animals in Engineering

Mick Peterson
Department of Mechanical Engineering
University of Maine, Orono, ME 04469

The purpose of this talk is to discuss the role of engineering in research related to charismatic mega-fauna. The hypotheses that are posited in biology are generally bounded by the tools available. However, an engineer can instead state research hypotheses based on what is possible. This is an overview seminar, which will include little in the way of hard results and more in the manner of a vision of the future in engineering.
