Lord Hall

Text Only Version
Robert Kennedy, UMaine president:

" The dedication of this magnificently renovated building represents a true milestone in UMaine's proud heritage in celebrating art in ways unmatched in any institution in this state. Lord Hall symbolizes much of what the University of Maine is
all about. It stands proud and strong, now more than ever, as a place where people can gain an appreciation for things that make us better as a society and as a culture."

James Linehan, Chair, UMaine Department of Art:

" We have 25 faculty members, 10 full-time, 15 part-time, almost 200 majors and over 500 non-majors annually who take our courses. We have a very vibrant, lively art community on this campus and today, we're very, very happy that we have a brand
new home."

Glenn Cummings, Majority Leader, Maine House of Representatives:

" For those people who have traditionally believed that arts are somehow secondary, or as a faculty member who I once worked with who called them the fluff disciplines, shockingly enough, I would say that our future in the United States and in this
economy is central to creativity and our ability to think differently. So the way that we think and how we look at the future of the economy, I would link it direcly with entrepeneurship, with higher education and with our ability to be creative
and thinking differently in the ways that we go about doing things."
