Coefficient of friction, rolling resistance To determine the rolling resistance our design might see in Mozambique, we decided to test the rolling resistance of a standard BMX bike with 20 inch wheels. The testing was performed at the University of Maine’s Whittier Farm, in a level test bed of packed sand used for by the Advanced Engineered Wood Composites Center. Other samples were also taken for comparison, such as on pavement and grass, in case our device is ever used in different terrain. The equations used were:
