A Maine-wide Ph.D. program in Molecular Genetics and Cell Biology currently involving faculty from The University of Maine, The Jackson Laboratory, the Maine Medical Center Research Institute, the Mount Desert I, the Foundation for Blood Research and the University of Southern Maine. The Program serves as an umbrella organization, making use of existing faculty, departments and Ph.D. Programs in a new and creative multi-disciplinary way. The purpose of the Program is to facilitate integration of researchers and students at the participating institutions, providing research and educational opportunities in such areas as molecular genetics, genomics, molecular biology, developmental and cell biology, reproductive biology, genetics, physical biochemistry, biophysics, bacteriology, virology, and immunology, bioinformatics/computer sciences, and biostatistics.
