ALANA Spring Preview Weekend

 April 13 - April 15, 2007

 Experience the University of Maine!

Have you been accepted to UMaine but are still unsure if this might be the place for you?

Are you a student of color who asks questions like, "will I make friends there?", "what is there to do on campus?", "?

The ALANA (African, Latino, Asian, and Native American) Spring Preview Weekend is designed to introduce accepted first year students of color to the campus community and surrounding area.  During the weekend, students take part in educational and social activities, panel discussions and more.

Participants are invited based on their self identification of ethnicity on their application for undergraduate admission to the University of Maine.  Students must be accepted students (and/or confirmed) to be invited. Participants will be hosted by current UMaine students on campus in residence halls for two nights.  Meals, housing, and event costs will be paid for by the University of Maine.  Students who RSVP by the transportation deadline (refer to your invitation) will be given the opportunity to have the University of Maine assist with the cost of transportation to and from campus.  The ALANA Staff and students hope that participants will use this experience to help them in deciding to confirm their admission and attend UMaine in the fall.

 Weekend highlights

  • Meet other talented high school seniors from around the country
  • Work with exemplary UMaine staff and students.
