MISSION STATEMENT

LASO is formed in order to not only bring together and unify the Latino student population at the University of Maine and surrounding communities, but to also allow people of non-Latino heritage to join together and celebrate as well as learn and appreciate the culture. The group strives to reach out and connect with persons among the student body, faculty, staff, and in the local surrounding communities.  In addition to forming connections and establishing unity, the group serves to identify the needs of its members and address and provide for those needs. Furthermore, it is the desire of the group to express and promote the various heritages and histories present within the University and local communities.
