Nontraditional Students Association Meeting Minutes
February 2, 2009
11AM Room 120, Memorial Union

Present
Kathleen O’Connell, President
Barbara Denaro, Vice President
Barbara Smith, Advisor
Jeffrey Weinberger
Sara Myrick

Old Business
1. Budget
We discussed how to allocate our request for the yearly budgeting funds from student government. Printing a color brochure will cost about $0.60 per brochure. If we place 10 per week on tables at the Brown Bag Lunch, we'd need 280 brochures, which would cost around $168. Since the budget is capped at $200, we decided to allocate $180 for advertising and correspondence and $20 for office expenses.
2. NSA Informational Flyer
Kat handed around an updated copy of a one-page NSA flyer. This was met with approval.
3. Informational Flyer for Faculty/Staff
No work had been done on this, but Barbara Denaro suggested adding a note about the emergency text system to it.
4. Outreach, Letter to Chancellor
Kat had drafted a letter and sent it to Barbara Denaro and Barbara Smith. Barbara Smith suggested adding more about what the NSA is and does.
5. Nominations of Faculty & Staff
Barbara Smith said she would send out a notice and start accepting nominations on April 1.
6. Partnering
Kat asked for suggestions on how to approach the Center on Aging, Continuing Ed, and Onward Programs. An initial e-mail was suggested, followed by a face-to-face appointment.
7. Family Movie & Pizza Night
Kat asked if posters and flyers had been spread around. Barbara Smith said they hadn't, but that she would get them ready for the afternoon. Jeffrey offered to post them around campus.
New Business
Tabled until next meeting.

Meeting adjourned at 11:50AM. Minutes submitted by Kat O’Connell
