Altiplano and Lake Titicaca

Altiplano:

The natural vegetation the altiplano is high altitude puna grasslands. This area has been farmed since pre-Incan times.

There are our three fearless leaders (Aram Calhoun, Mac Hunter, and Bill Glanz) checking out the wet puna for bird life.

Lake Titicaca:

Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world. It is also a salt water lake. We took a boat to the Uros totora reed islands. The Uros people use the totora reed to build their houses, boats, and the very islands that they live on.

This is a boat the Uros people made out of tortora reeds.

Here is a house made out of tortora reeds.
