Spring Break   Field Ecology Course: Brazil—The Pantanal 

 INT 475: Field Studies in Ecology (3 credits): Spend spring break in the Pantanal, the largest wetland landscape in the world

Instructors:     Aram Calhoun (Wildlife Ecology)

                           Bill Glanz (Biology and Ecology )

                                    Mac Hunter (Wildlife Ecology)

                                                 

Ø       Study sunny South American tropical ecosystems over the cold, dark Maine winter. 

Ø       Look for giant anteaters, hyacinth macaws, tapirs, and caimans.

Ø        Snorkel with tropical fish in a clear-water spring.

Ø       Travel through flooded wetlands by horseback and canoe.

 Tentative course fee and schedule:

 February 28 -March 12

Course fee:  approximately $2500  (includes everything except tuition, passport and visa costs, and travel to JFK airport, details to be provided)

Prerequisite: INT 475 has a prerequisite of an ecology course
