The Maine coast
between Acadia and Lubec is sometimes called Maine's Bold Coast.
There is no better place to see this than at the reserve in Cutler.
This again is a
grand example of the Acadian forest. Some suggest that this is
as southern as the boreal forest comes in Maine. The Cutler
Coast trail travels a mile and half through these forests until a
dramatic arrival at the Bold Coast.

The trail then
follows along with one breathtaking view after another.

The
as you walk along the trail to the East you can see Grand Mannan
Island, part of New Brunswick. It is in the distance along the
horizon in this picture.

On
this fall day's hike, we encountered Lynn Wolfe, a Senior EES major,
and Hazel Groce, a Senior International Affairs/Environmental Issues
major, hiking with a friend. The three had been camping at
the primitive sites available in this reserve. They "took our
picture" on the hike.
