Kruger Diaries
Join Luke Rivard and Michael
Dennett, EES majors at UMaine, on their big adventure to Kruger
National Park in South Africa. Every spring semester, UMaine offers
the course Field Studies in Tropical Ecology (INT 475). This is an
interdisciplinary course taught by Mac Hunter,
Department
of Wildlife Ecology, Aram Calhoun,
Department of Plant Soil and
Environmental Sciences, and Bill Glanz,
Department of Biological Sciences.
Each year,
INT 475
explores the ecology of different parts of planet Earth. This year,
twenty-two students and their three faculty mentors will be off to
The South African Wildlife College adjacent to
Kruger National Park in South Africa. Students are engaged
in classes and readings for the first weeks of the spring semester
to prepare for the trip. During their stay in South Africa, in
addition to group work, each student will present individual
projects.
