Ecology and Environmental Sciences

Lancaster Diary

Hey everyone,

Thought I’d send along some pictures of campus so you can all get a chance to see what it looks like. I believe it is about the same size as UMaine, in population size, and in land mass. Here, the dorms and educational buildings are intermixed, so you can have class in the bottom floor of a hall you live in. The only buildings I can think of like that in Maine are Colvin, and Balentine. It takes me about 10 minutes to walk from my room to the Art Department where I have my photography class, and that is the furthest I have to walk.

There is an underpass right in the middle of campus where all the busses run from, making it really convenient to get too and from places. Also, the bookstore is quite different here from UMaine. There is a chain store called Waterstones (kind of like a smaller Barnes and Noble) where students buy their books from, but they don’t sell any clothes or anything. There is another store not far away that carries some “Lancaster University” gear such as sweatshirts and T-Shits.

There are a few restaurants and shops on campus as well. There is quite a nice Chinese food restaurant, and an even better Indian restaurant. (Indian is really big over here). They also have a shop called a SPAR, which is a really good market kind of thing, and a central store on the other side of campus that sells a lot of the same stuff.

Other than that it is similar to UMaine. I heard is snowed in Massachusetts the other day…winter is coming huh? Speak to you later!
