Hi
everyone! Our names are Jen Kray and Erica Bickford. We are both
Ecology and Environmental Science majors studying at Lancaster
University in Lancaster, England for the 2004-2005 academic year.
Here we're going to be posting pictures and blurbs on our adventures
and our studies here at Lancaster so in essence, you all can study
abroad vicariously through us!
Here, Erica and I are getting ready to leave the US
for our great adventure. We had just gotten back from Portsmouth to
have dinner at the Flatbread pizza Company (mmmmmm) as well as to
the Citizens bank to get some dollars changed to pounds. We were
both expecting the exchange rate to be about 1.7 so we both gasped
when the teller told us it was 1.923! I bought 120 pounds for 240
dollars!!! Oh well, I guess it had to be done. :)
We
then traveled back to my house in Newburyport, MA to sort out some
packing. Here's another picture of the alcove in my room where I
piled up everything I needed to bring. We were both quite proud
that we fit everything we needed for the year in the two allotted
checked bags (especially considering what our rooms looked like the
two years we spent at UMaine). Erica's quite a sensible packer
though so I had no doubt she's pull through!
Erica then left to go back to her house in Kittery,
ME and we parted with..."see you in England" which struck me as
quite hilarious!
I'll sign off here for now, but check back later for
updates on how our journey went and what we're doing for the first
week in a whole new country!
