The natural areas available for study and recreation close to UMaine are exceptional.  One good example is the Orono Bog Walk just a quick drive or bike ride from campus.  The bog walk start in the Bangor City Forest with a dramatic entrance.

Spring time has many wetland plants ready to burst.  InOrono Bog Walk near UMaine early May the skunk cabbage is everywhere.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The bog walk is used for UMaine classes, public recreation, and even a source of artistic inspiration.  Below a UMaine student works on his drawing skills from one of the many board walk stopping points.
