The natural areas
available for study and recreation close to UMaine are exceptional.
One good example is the Orono
Bog Walk just a quick drive or bike ride from campus. The
bog walk start in the Bangor City Forest with a dramatic entrance.

Spring time has many
wetland plants ready to burst. In
early May the skunk cabbage is everywhere.
The bog walk is used for UMaine classes, public
recreation, and even a source of artistic inspiration. Below a
UMaine student works on his drawing skills from one of the many
board walk stopping points.
