Lancaster Diary
10/24/04
This past weekend Donnah, Susan, Erica, and I traveled by train to
North Wales to visit the town of Conwy (pronounced like New
Hampshire’s Conway). Here the main attraction was the Conwy Castle,
which we spent much time in. This Castle was hardly in ruins and we
had a great time climbing in and among the towers and halls. You
could still even see a part of the moat! The Castle and its grounds
were gorgeous, as was the surrounding countryside. It is fun to
think of knights crouching in the small window spaces of the castle
protecting the city.
We then walked along the streets and found a “chippy” a.k.a fish and
chip shop to get some food. After satiating our hunger we walked
down to the waterfront and visited the smallest house in Great
Britain, and trust me it is
SMAAAAAALL! I could barely stand up in
it and I’m 5’ 3 1/2”. The last guy that lived there was a 6’3”
fisherman! After we were done touring the house (it didn’t take
long) we walked up to the butterfly jungle that, while it was cool,
cost £2.50 (about $4.80) and wasn’t worth all that money.
We then went back to England and Erica and Susan got off at Chester
to go to Cheshire Oaks (an outlet mall) while Donnah and I went back
to Liverpool to watch the football game at the pub. (We won 2-0…GO
Liverpool!). We were going to take Nicola and Olivia to Cheshire
Oaks on Sunday while Erica and Susan returned to Lancaster.
Now I’m here writing this and I’m knackered (very tired) after a few
busy weekends it will be nice to have one next weekend where I’ll
just lounge around. Its been tons of fun though…check back for next
week’s installment!
