Director, School of Nursing 

The University of Maine seeks applications for a Director, School of Nursing.  The School of Nursing is part of the College of Natural Sciences, Forestry and Agriculture.  The Director is the chief academic and administrative officer of the School and is responsible for shaping the strategic direction of nursing education at the flagship university in the State’s public university system.  Applicants should possess proven leadership abilities and demonstrate substantial previous administrative experience in nursing education.  The Director represents the School of Nursing at both the state and national levels.  The successful candidate must demonstrate a record that will support appointment at senior rank with tenure; which includes the appropriate credentials and experience in teaching (at both the undergraduate and graduate level), scholarship and service.  A doctoral degree in nursing or a related field, from an accredited institution, is required as is eligibility for Maine RN licensure. 

The School of Nursing was established in 1958 and offers undergraduate and graduate programs accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.  Additional information about the School and faculty members can be found at www.umaine.edu/nursing/.  The University of Maine offers a wide array of majors and programs for approximately 11,500 undergraduate and graduate students. 

The University of Maine is located one hour from the beautiful Bar Harbor area and Acadia National Park and approximately the same distance to skiing and remote hiking areas.  The area provides a pleasant, safe, and affordable living environment.  Extensive cultural activities are available at the Maine Center for the Arts and the greater Bangor area.
