will be received until 2:00pm on Monday, April 22, 2013, at which time the Bids will be opened and read aloud in Room 109 Service Building. Bids received after the stated time will not be considered and will be returned unopened.
Bids must be accompanied by a satisfactory Bid Bond for 5% of the Bid (checks will not be accepted) which shall be in conformity with the form of Bond contained in Section 00 43 13 of the Specifications. The University reserves the right to waive all formalities and reject any or all bids or to accept any bids.
The successful Bidder will be required to furnish a 100% Performance Bond and a 100% Payment Bond to cover the execution of the Contract which shall be in conformity with the form of Bonds contained in Sections 00 61 13.13 and 00 61 13.16, respectively, of the Specifications and shall be for the Contract amount.
There will be no formal pre-bid meeting or site tour. The project area is a public area and may be viewed at the Bidder’s convenience. Please respect University traffic, pedestrians and parking signage.
Project Summary: The project consists of the rehabilitation of
approximately 550 lf of existing bituminous roadway at the University of Maine
on Munson Road. The Work will include clearing
and grubbing, excavation, gravels, paving, curbing, storm drainage, site
lighting bases and conduit, erosion control, surface restoration, and other
work incidental and normal to the project.
The Work commencement date shall be no
earlier than May 13, 2013 in order to be performed after the 2013 Spring
Semester. The Work will be performed
adjacent to occupied administrative and residential buildings and must be
performed in a manner sensitive to potential impacts to tenants. Associated Work factors shall include work
area security, phasing, prompt removal of demolition material, and
accommodations for noise, dust and vibration control. The roadway may be closed through coordination
with Owner.
