will be received until 2:00pm on Monday, April 8, 2013, at which time the Bids will be opened and read aloud in Room 109 Service Building. Bids received after the stated time will not be considered and will be returned unopened.
Bids must be accompanied by a satisfactory Bid Bond for 5% of the Bid (checks will not be accepted) which shall be in conformity with the form of Bond contained in Section 00 43 13 of the Specifications. The University reserves the right to waive all formalities and reject any or all bids or to accept any bids.
The successful Bidder will be required to furnish a 100% Performance Bond and a 100% Payment Bond to cover the execution of the Contract which shall be in conformity with the form of Bonds contained in Sections 00 61 13.13 and 00 61 13.16, respectively, of the Specifications and shall be for the Contract amount.
Bidders may attend a non-mandatory pre-bid meeting at the westerly entrance of the Field House, University of Maine, on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at 10:00am. This will be the only time the building will be available for inspection. Copies of plans and specifications will not be available at the pre-bid meeting. Acquiring or reviewing plans and specifications prior to the meeting is advised.
The Project consists of the removal of approximately 53,200 s.f. of rubberized indoor track surface material from the
Field House at the University of Maine, Orono, Maine.
Environmental analysis has
identified detectable concentrations of
mercury and the material must be managed for removal and disposal as a
hazardous debris regulated under 40 CFR 268.45.
The substantial completion date for the Work is May 9, 2013 with a start no later date of April 22, 2013. A Bid Alternate will provide for substantial completion by May 24, 2013 with a provision for the great room to be available for public occupancy from May 10 to May 12, 2013.
