Our Mission
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs aids faculty and staff in seeking and administering funding for research grants, contracts, and other extramural funding. The office serves as the applicant, contract negotiator and signatory authority for the University in such matters, as well as providing grant accounting services once an award is made.
Our Director
Michael Hastings, of Hampden, serves as UMaine’s Authorized Institutional Representative for submitting research and instructional proposals to extramural sponsors (federal agencies, state agencies and foundations). A graduate of Bowdoin College, Hastings has over twenty-five years of experience in grants management.
