Page Farm & Home Museum Tours

Experience family life in rural Maine from 1865 to 1940 through our collection of household and farm items. Also visit a one-room schoolhouse, carriage house, blacksmith shop, general store and the Heritage Garden.

Gallery Tours (30 Minutes each. $30 Booking fee. Maximum of 30 guests):

Farm Life – Tour of the Carriage House, Blacksmith shop, Lumbering and farming equipment.   

Home Life – Tour the interior of the Page Farm including the kitchen, parlor, bedroom, and some ways they made a living. 

Community Life – Tour of the Schoolhouse, Grange Hall and General Store. 

Curriculum Tours (All tours are 1 hour unless otherwise noted):

Six Simple Machines - Pulley, Wheel, Inclined Plane, Screw, Wedge and Lever. Tour the simple machines in use in the home and on the farm before the advent of electricity. $2.00 per person fee, 10 guests minimum, 30 guests maximum.

Folk Art - Demonstrations of spinning wool and stenciling. A hands-on workshop for all ages (not intensive). $2.00 per person fee, 10 guests minimum, 30 guests maximum.

School Days - Go to school in the Holden schoolhouse and learn what it was like to attend a one-room schoolhouse in the late 19th century. All ages and hands-on. $2.00 per person fee, 20 guests maximum.

Leisure Time – Experience the various toys and games of the period.  Make your own toy and learn some riddles, rhymes, and tongue twisters.  All ages. $2.00 per person fee, 25 guests maximum.

Heritage Garden - Heirloom Vegetable and Formal Herb Gardens. Seasonally, students and others tour the heirloom vegetables and herbs with a master gardener. All ages. There is a $30.00 booking fee, 25 guests maximum.

Scavenger Hunt – Through clues, discover and learn about various items throughout all the entire farm and home museum. There is a $30.00 booking fee for up to 30 guests, $36 for a maximum of 60 guests.

Maple-Sugaring - Curriculum Intensive Experience.  Learn about the maple-sugaring process through multi-media.  Have a maple sugar-on-snow party and carry out a curriculum activity.  $2.00 per person fee, 30 guests maximum. Maximum of 30 guests.

Ice Harvesting - Curriculum Intensive Experience.  Learn about ice harvesting methods, use artifacts, and complete a science experiment. $2.00 per person fee, 30 guests maximum.

Most tours can be adjusted for any age group according to the Maine Learning Results.
Groups must be accompanied by one (free) chaperone for every ten students.
There is a fee of $2.00 per person for chaperones over the required amount, except in cases of special needs.

The minimum charge for each program is $30.
