"For it isn't enough to talk about peace. One must believe
in it. And it isn't enough to believe in it. One must work at
it."
- Eleanor Roosevelt |
The University of Maine
Peace Studies Program focuses on education for peace, justice, human
rights, nonviolence, tolerance, global understanding, interdependence
and mutuality, and environmental responsibility. Through its academic
studies and various educational, research and outreach programs, Peace
Studies infuses concerns for peace and the practice of transformative
conflict resolution into the UMaine campus and community. The Peace
Studies Program joins with the people of Maine in creating cultures
of peace in our state, nation, and world.
