Welcome to "FrontPage Web Design".....

The purpose of this website is to help FrontPage users (beginning, intermediate, and advanced) learn how to create eye-appealing and user-friendly web sites that are easily navigated and adhere to Section 508 accessibility standards required by the University of Maine.

This website was created in FrontPage 2003.  If you are using older versions of FrontPage you  may see slightly different dialog messages  displayed, but you should still be able to complete each task.  If you are unclear about a step and need further assistance, please refer to FrontPage's "Help" menu - it has a wealth of information and will walk you through steps necessary for your version of FrontPage.

Pictures within this website has been reduced in size (thumbnails) to help keep download time to a minimum.  You can click on any picture to enlarge its view.

Included in this tutorial are two hands-on lessons. They are designed to help put into practice what you have already learned.

In the first lesson, you will create a simple but attractive web page.  You will change the background color of a page, give the page a title, and set other page properties; you will insert a table for formatting text and one for collecting data; you will insert pictures, create thumbnails, and add alternative text; you will create a navigational bar, hyperlinks, email links, and bookmarks; and finally you will add owner content information and a logo to your web page.

In the second lesson you will learn how to create a form, set form field and form properties. You will learn how to send form results to an email address or to a database. You will create a database results page, and finally you will create a search form and set it properties.

The "Introduction to FrontPage and Web Design" booklet, which contains the same information as in this website, can be downloaded. The booklet is approximately 55 pages in length with many colorful graphics and serves as a great reference guide.

I hope you find this FrontPage tutorial beneficial and will use it as a resource tool for creating your own web sites.  Any comments or suggestions to help improve this web site are greatly appreciated.

Note: Lessons 1 and 2 and the "Introduction to FrontPage and the Web" tutorial are Portable Document Files (PDF).  You will need Adobe Reader to view them. If you do not have Adobe Reader, you can download a free version from Adobe.
