Requesting a Web Account

In order to have a Web presence, you must have a Domain and Web Service Provider to register your site name and to manage and display your pages - this is called a web account

To request a web account with the University of Maine, you need to complete and submit their online Web Account Form: New Server at http://www.umaine.edu/insider/guidance/accountrequest.htm.

To request a web account with Cooperative Extension, you need to contact the Communications Department at 581-3234.

Once an account has been set up for you, you will receive a User ID and Password.  You cannot connect to a web server without a user ID and password.

FrontPage Extensions

If you are using FrontPage as your web editor, FrontPage extensions must be installed on the web server hosting your pages.  FrontPage contains many web components and elements that require FrontPage extensions and will not work correctly without them.

Forms, search forms, hit counters, hover buttons, and marquees are just a few of web components offered in FrontPage. Always check with your web service provider to see if the latest FrontPage extensions have been installed before using these components.
