Videos - Cohen Lecture
Robert A. Kennedy, UMaine President:
"Throughout Maine's history, our state has been home to innumerable
accomplished and influential public servants--citizens who have
selflessly devoted their careers to the high calling of government
service. By any measure, Bill Cohen is among the most prominent of those
men and women, and we at UMaine deeply value our long-term association
with him. The remarkable archive created from the Cohen papers is an
invaluable resource for scholars studying American and world affairs of
the past four decades. The archive is right here at UMaine, enhancing
this university's academic stature significantly. Over the past decade,
Cohen lectures have been some of the most memorable, important events at
the University of Maine, providing our students, faculty, and staff
members and friends from the community with the opportunity to hear from
and interact with the likes of Madelaine Albright, John Glenn, Brian
Mulroney, and Dan Rather. Tonight, we add another impressive name to
that list in Bob Woodward. Certainly one of America's greatest
journalists, Bob Woodward has, since the 1970's, pulled back the curtain
to reveal the inner workings of our government at the highest level. His
work has allowed us citizens to better understand the power structures
and those who occupy the most prominent roles in our government."
