"To members of the class of 2011, my personal welcome to each of you,
and my congratulations on choosing UMaine at exactly the right time. One
example of your wisdom is this very building, which opens officially
today. Years in the planning and construction, the new Student
Recreation and Fitness Center will transform the student experience at
UMaine, and it will improve our community in a great many ways. Add in
the renovated Hilltop Commons across the street, the First Year
Residential Experience programming, the new Student Innovation Center,
and many other innovations, improvements and other developments on the
horizon, and you've got an exciting and vibrant living and learning
community, teeming with opportunity for each and every one of you."
