Videos - Hutchinson Center Gift
Betsey Greenstein, President- Bank of
America/Maine:
"It gives me great personal pride to formally announce that Bank of
America will donate the Hutchinson Center to the University of Maine
System."
Robert Kennedy, UMaine President:
"This gesture reflects Bank of America's belief in the people of the
midcoast Maine region and the University of Maine and together great
things and improved the lives of many people. Because of Bank of America
we'll be able to continue this wonderful partnership. As I've said many
times over the past 6 years, the Hutchinson Center has exceeded our
expectations beyond our wildest dreams and we have big dreams for its
future. None of this would be possible if not for the fact that many
visionary people at MBNA, in the area communities, at the University of
Maine and now at Bank of America, understood and appreciated what access
to higher education means to people."
Governor John Baldacci:
"That's what our life is all about is to give people the foundation for
education, the foundation for people to hang out their own shingle and
be independent and self-sufficient and this Hutchinson Center is doing
it. So thank you Fred, thank you Bank of America for this huge gift and
for your continuing participation in work in the state of Maine because
we're certainly appreciative of everything Bank of America does in
Maine."
Jamie Lee, UMaine MBA student:
"There's no better way for me to express the role the Hutchinson Center
plays in the lives of its students than through the accomplishments this
center has helped me make possible. Since I began my graduate degree
here a year and a half ago, I've started my Maine business career as a
fund associate with the small enterprise growth fund--a venture capital
firm funded by the state. I've managed Mark's printing house, a 130 year
old Maine business located here in Belfast. I've represented the
University of Maine at a week - long MBA leadership conference in
Canada, I've assisted my husband in starting Pen-Bay veterinary
associates, mid-coast Maine's only veterinary hospital accredited by the
american animal hospital association, I've developed a network of
inspiring students, business professionals and professors and I've
become and active participant in Maine's entrepeneruial and business
community. However, more than any of these accomplishments, the
Hutchinson Center and the University of Maine have enabled my husband
and me to manage dual careers in the state that we love and the state
where we fell in love 10 years ago as students at Bowdoin College."
