Plastic comb bindings have
teeth that fit into rectangular holes punched along the edge of the
paper.
Comb bindings provide an economical and professional look and allow
your document to open flat.
Double Loop Wire binding is similar to plastic comb
bindings, with teeth that fit through holes in the edge of the paper,
but provides the added strength and durability of wire. Double Loop
Wire binding provides a sophisticated look for calendars, recipe
books, journals, notebooks, and much more.
Coil bindings are best known for their dominance
in the school supply market, used to bind blank notebooks. A continuous
wire, which resembles a spring,
runs through holes along the edge of your pages. Sprial bindings
are available in metal or plastic and can be used to bind calendars,
lab manuals, flip charts, and any document that needs to lay flat
or needs to be folded back on itself.
Ring Binders are terrific for small
jobs or when you’re producing a document that needs frequent additions
or changes. Our Print on Demand services can provide you with tabbed
page dividers to keep your project organized. Although three-ring
binders are most common, a variety of binder styles are available.
Velo binding uses narrow strips of plastic on the
front and back of your multi-page document to bind pages together.
The strips are attached to each other through 1/8-inch holes punched
through the sheets and are then “welded” with heat. Velo
bindings can be used on documents up to 3 inches thick. Velo bindings
are available in a variety of colors and can be used in combination
with hard covers.
Saddle-stitching, also called staple binding or
booklet making, involves stapling the center of the folded document
and can be used
for binding multipage menus, guide books, programs, and booklets
in a variety of sizes.
Perfect binding uses hot glue to provide a rigid
spine for your document. When covers are used, the spine can also
be printed. Perfect binding is more recognizable for its use by paperback
books.
Hardcover binding, also known as library binding,
is a durable and elegant way to present your document to the world!
Printing Services is currently the only printer in the state of Maine
providing hardcover binding.
Drilling sizes are available between 1/8-inch and
3/4-inch. Drilling is available in various configurations up to 3-holes
in a single pass.
